Garden 2007

What I liked:

  • Anaheim Chilis – hot
  • Super Chilis – hot
  • Holy Mole – medium
  • Spinach – plant in rows 1st week of June
  • Basil – plant in rows 1st week of June
  • Mixed greens – plant in rows, every 3 weeks
  • Tomatoes – no Roma’s, use plastic twine – not baling twine, for support, plant deep
  • Onions – plant fairly shallow
  • Tomatillas – awesome
  • In general, peppers are not ready until late August/early September. No need to put plants in before Memorial Day, despite the weather.

Changes for next year

  • Plant fewer beans – maybe 10 plants is enough.
  • Try cukes again.
  • Watermelon, peanuts, cauliflower, poblanos, serranos, banana peppers, kale or chard to overwinter.
  • Skip Cayennes.
  • Seed buckwheat between tomato plants
